I've been using an IPTV box for almost a year now and whenever it is on, it manages to eat up all of the (I don't want to be completely wrong with the terminology, but I am going to guess on it) bandwith and lets the IPTV use all of the mbps, leaving barely any for other devices such as my computer.
I understand it should use some bandwith, but doing an internet speed test, I got 2mbps on my computer while the IPTV was on, and when it was off I got 12mbps. I know this isn't great or anything, but why does the IPTV use all of the internet? It is very annoying! Thank you
With some MSOs IPTV draws from the same pool of bandwidth as your other IP services (data, voice). This can cause degradation when any one service creates a lot of congestion. Traditionally most MSOs oversubscribe their last mile subscribers which can cause even more issues in dense areas. Some smart MSOs now overprovision or otherwise better allocate IP services to customers so that different services don't exhaust the available bandwidth.
