I was just wondering what Android box would you recommend?
After going through forum seems like people are not very fond of Ali boxes.
Is the M8S a no go? And does it matter if i take the 4.4 version or lollipop? Its about 50$ free shipping.
Or should i go straight for the Nexus or Nvidia boxes?

M8s is an ok box, can play HD no problems, OS version shouldnt matter. only problem with them is the quality of the remote (you have to point it directly at box. line of sight) and wifi (reception iffy).
if you want a quality device then the other 2 you mentioned are good.

Being on android 4.4 shouldn't be an issue as long as the apps that you will use are still compatible with that version (kodi or simpletv are compatible with 4.4).
I don't think the iptv streams are even 720p, so as long as the hardware is capable to play HD you would be fine.
But try to make sure it has at least 1gb ram
