Out of the FTA Loop (literally years)...

by CJDJ_Canada

Hello all,

I was curious. I used to have various FTA Boxes that needed bin files (Sonicview, Viewsat, Nfusion) when I was renting at a house. Now that I'm in an Apartment Building, I can't go that route (also all my boxes were destroyed during several moves). I cut the cable a while ago since I'm on my PC all the time... but I use Kodi from time to time. Being in Canada, I would like to watch my local channels on my computer, or are all the available options only US & other International channels... I don't know where to start...

I'd rather not use a Set Top box again, so is there a way to go via Kodi? Sorry for the confusing newbish questions. I've been out of the loop for way too long. My search results keep coming back to IPTV, but there's so many sources out there...

I appreciate any assistance. Thanks in advance!

I spent all day yesterday trying to set up iptv and some of today too. I saw quite a few YouTube videos that showed it working, but even though many of the URLs worked to the point where channels showed up, none of the channels worked. I think the op could benefit from the answer to my question as well as myself. Which is, what is the best place to find channel lists that work? And to help answer the op's question there's a lot you can do with iptv, so I'm sure watching local channels will be possible without a set top box through kodi

I just made it into the game recently as well. While I'm not entirely sure, I think we have missed the boat on free IPTV. It seems not too long ago(literally weeks), the free iptv providers setup shop and began charging.

There are lists on this subreddit of these providers, no one will stand by one service though. I'm not quite willing to provide the service I use either, but I've tried a few and they all work similarly.

To avoid set top boxes you can use providers that have a kodi add on and hook your PC up to your tv.

I'm trying a trial run of iptvsubs. For what I'm seeing so far, and for what I'm looking for, it works quite well. I am using the Kodi addon. It's not full featured like an actual STB, but it still does the job. It does have a lot of channels that I like to use in the US/Canada. Same with the Sports. Granted though, it's a trial run... The ultimate test would be to sub for a bit...
