Do any of the boxes offer PVR functionality? If so, does anybody have experience with it? Does it work well?
Interested in cutting the cord, but this is a non-starter for my wife.

I just use Exodus or Velocity for any missed shows.
PVR Functionality is challenging. I had to pay for a service, and pay for software.
Server Side Setup. Synology 212j DVBLink Installed. (Pay Software, but worth it.) (TVHeadEnd is an alternative, but I also get OTA channels via antennea, and EPG Data was a pain. Like a weeks long pain. DVBLogic just worked) PercData for DVBLogic ~ $3/Month PercData provides my EPG data locally, and for IPTV since Most channels are east coast time, I selected a New York Address for directtv) I created a m3u list of channels with iptvsubs. Currently I can access only 1 stream at a time. ~$11/Month
Client Side Setup: Kodi on a Raspberry Pi2 DVBLogic PVR. I had to program channel logos with Kodi directly, but it looks and preforms great. I selected only about 30 channels that my family and I use, so its manageable.
Not sure where you are from, but if you are from the UK might interest you, my paid sub includes catch up on almost all UK Channels, 14 catch up.
Bit late to this but hope it helps
I could be wrong but unless something has changed then you can't as for whatever reasons you can't record internet TV. I have my PC Hooke up to a dish using a dvb card and that lets me record live TV though I never use it as everything Id want to watch will be available the next day
