Mag 254 vs Kodi on Amazon FireTV

by Nightowl805

Ok, I am just faking it. I'm in just the beginning stages of learning about IPTV. I discovered by accident when learning about a Kodi build. But this is where I am very confused. The builder is still doing Kodi builds but he is now also now pushing Mag box 254's and then selling them out as a mini cable company....way over my head and off track sorry.

My question really is, why a specialized box, though pretty cheap overall instead of just sticking with/using it on Kodi which I have seen many of you say that you can do. For that matter, why pay for it to began with? Just for slightly more certain uptime and better quality.....a lot of it is available on Kodi. Just trying to learn.

You've assumed correctly. You're paying for a better chance of something actually working when you click it.

There are good quality streams on Kodi too but they can be pot luck, so i'd say you're more paying for the consistency.

Having tried out Android boxes with both Kodi and built-in Android IPTV apps, as well as PC's with Kodi and also MAG boxes... I really like the MAG. Functions just like your standard set top box - no fuss, no messing about.

Next best thing was an Android box with a native Android app for convenience.

I still think using Kodi for any kind of IPTV is a complete ball-ache. Everything takes just extra keypresses or mouse clicks to get to where you want/need to be... over something like a MAG which is basically like using a standard TV and Digi box.

Obviously this all boils down to what service you are using with any of these devices. Even the best device will perform badly if paired with a shitty service... and vice versa.

No need for a Mag Box..FireTv is fine u can have kodi and download STB Emulator on it (works like a cable box) and pay for an IPTV service I know of a few quality ones that have tried..$10-15 a month range...shit load of channels HD
