Record IPTV?

by tarod

Looking for assistance in recording IPTV streams. Preferably, I would love to be able to do it in Kodi. I'm frustrated that Kodi has PVR clients and the settings show recording settings but common PVR addons like Simple IPTV grey out the record button. Seems like others (xtcodes client) worked at one time but not now? I've seen other solutions where you have to dump out of Kodi into VLC but I'd prefer to just stay in Kodi if possible.

What is the easiest way to integrate IPTV with DVR functions into Kodi? If that's not possible, what other ways are there to record IPTV with an episode guide type format?

I'm currently able to record my IPTV streams within emby.

I set up Emby with all my local media – tv shows and movies, then added my paid IPTV m3u playlist and some schedules direct guide data. Voila, live TV, EPG, and recording. I can even schedule a whole series to record, just like you would with a standard STB DVR.

What are you trying to record that you couldn't just watch after it has been uploaded?

Don't know how much time and money you want to put into it.. but you can set up recording for IPTV with a raspberry pi, then integrate your setup into kodi to record shows.

You can do it with a Mag254 or with the STB emulator program for android. Pretty easy.

I've been using smoothstreams and their record feature has been pretty solid for me

I too have been trying to get this to work. For things like award shows and other live events that are not distributed through Exodus etc... Not much luck so far.

Yeah, I've not had much success. I'm using a Windows setup and have tried several suggested plugins I googled for Kodi but all of them no longer work. That's the frustrating part, they worked initially but the developers stopped supporting it and they are all now broken. I've also tried NextPVR, MediaPortal2, and DVBLink but they all have issues. NextPVR was the closest but to set it up it looks like I need to manually create an XML file for the channel list. It also doesn't solve the probelm of the EPG as it doesn't read it from the link.

IPTV Simple Client seems like it's so close to the solution. I'm sure I'm not understanding the complications of just adding the record function. I would just really like to be able to time shift and record events.

I'll keep looking and post if I find anything.

Xtcodes addon was working apparently. But the dev shut it down and now we dont have anything that can record directly from kodi without using other software...
