Android Boxes for IPTV?

by hockeyfan0

Hello /r/iptv, I am currently in the search of a IPTV provider and a box (capable of Kodi and IPTV) and was wondering what everyone here was using. It seems to be a mix of Android TV boxes and MAGs but wanted reviews on those to make my decision in the end a bit better.

Hope y'all can help me decide on my next box. Thanks!

If you want the purest form and best reliability and your iptv provider has stalker... then get a mag.

MAG box is great box. One thing i do not like with MAG is that it is very complicated. Besides you have to buy your subscription form an IPTV service provider. Now i am using www.easybox.tv because it is easy to use.

If you want one of the best Android boxes on the market at a decent price, get a Xiaomi MiBox.

EDIT: I am not referring to Chinese eBay boxes. This is running official Android TV OS just like the Nexus Player. And it's only $69 and it's really fast.

You could try something like the AVOV TvOnline4 which runs android apps (like Kodi) and runs IPTV stalker (like MAG boxes). Or there's the Dreamlink T1 which came out a few months ago. It also runs Android and seems to be designed for IPTV. I haven't used either of these but I'm thinking of getting one of these or maybe just a MAG.

I'm currently using a MXQ Pro Android TV Box and an STB emulator but I find the Android box pretty crappy. The remote that came with it is terrible. I had to replace it with an air mouse which is only slightly better. These Android Boxes are terrible for navigation and you'll almost certainly need a mouse or air mouse to navigate around apps which don't have proper support for the remote. Kodi isn't too bad navigating around I guess but it's still slow and painful. Having to type in addresses for Kodi repos using the air mouse or software keyboard makes me want to gouge my eyes out.

I only just started testing out IPTV services so I can't really help there with my experiences. I've started testing out IPGUYS and they are very decent so far with okay quality.

For your android boxes, Chinese, check freaktab and kodiloaded for custom/fixed firmwares. A lot of them come broken. But that's the joy of a tech toy :)
