Hi, so currently a friend of mine is selling me boxes at cost. He is charging me 10 month for a subscription. I am in turn selling those boxes to others and up charging them on the sub. My question is, is reselling through one of the portal companies easy? I think I am paying my friend for nothing and doing all the work. The only benefit I see is that I am outlaying no money of my own.
Plus I'd like clarification on the donations. If a donation is $80usd. Does that mean it will run one box for one year at that cost? Meaning if I buy bulk then resell I am making the difference? Any input from resellers would be appreciated.
You didn't tell us what services you're using or offering your customers so I can't answer all your donation questions.
I can tell you that using a portal is simple and that is where you maintain a list of active and inactive Mac addresses.
From the panels I've seen you pay per credit. A credit is one month service, and can be associated to any Mac address you choose.
Most resellers have minimum amount of credits you can buy at a time... Example... 300 credits means you need to buy 300 months worth of service at once.
If you only have a handful of clients, some resellers will deny you a panel. They won't sell you 5 credits at q discounted rate for example.
If you have 100 clients, then 300 credits would last you 3 months.
That would require you to front some money.
Depending on the service, some will sell you 25 credits but I've also seen other popular servers request minimum 500 months... It all depends.
