Little help: a complete noob when it comes to IPTV but I've tried two services and not have a good experience.

by johnnieb

Hi. I have a m8 android box that has one IPTV service (STB Emulator) on it and it freezes a lot, no matter what channel I'm on. The VOD secion is a little more stable and doesn't freeze nearly as much.

The other service is on a Amazon Fire Stick with Perfect Player as the interface. This is UK tv and it freezes a lot and some channels don't even play sound from time to time.

Now, you'd think it was my internet down, but I get 90 down in most spots. The M8 box is the furthest away from my router so only gets 15-30 down so that could be an issue, BUT, the Fire Stick is literally right next to my router and I still get pauses and freezing.

Is there a port I need to open up on the router? Something in the water does not compute??? What could I be doing wrong? Does it really need to be wired in order to work flawlessly?

Thanks for the help.

For once, it's nice to see someone that has at least done a little bit of troubleshooting before coming here. We see it all the time people saying "the service doesn't work" and often I'm convinced it has something to do with their LAN, (not necessarily their WAN).

If you're getting 15-30 on the m8, I suspect that is more than enough. Can I assume you actually installed a speedtest app on the m8?

I've used about 16 different IPTV providers, and what I will say is that in my experience, there are about 3 or so that seem to be able to work smoothly with next to no buffering.

Where abouts are you located?

I dont suppose you tried to ping the servers did you?

I was having similar issues and got a Mag 254 and all problems went away. Sometimes the apps just suck and can't do what a dedicated platform can.

Why not try a free trial from our service and see if it is a provider issue.

Well, I'll tell you about my experience and from your description it's the same iptv service. Initially I got it installed on stb emu on firestick. Freezed like hell. Then I got their kodi addon . Not big of a diffrence. All of these on wifi. Then I had it installed on gse on a wired atv4. Things got bettet, but still a little freeze/buffer. What changed the game for me was a mag box. Set it up and now works perfectly. I hope this is your problem too. I think you need to try diffrent platforms or devices, if you have others, wired, to see exactly what's what.

Around 1 or 2 years ago I bought a Minix X8H Neo android box and I couldn't understand why I was having so much issues trying to play acestream streamings while I didn't have any single issue with my Galaxy Note 4.

I connected the android box to the ethernet port and I still was having issues. I came to the conclusion that either ram or amount of memory of the device were also important.

Many android boxes have only 8GB or 16GB so I guess this might not be enough when you are trying to stream high quality live streams...

PS: I'm not saying that's the cause, but it might be... that was the only difference between my Galaxy Note 4 and the android box.

if you want you can try our service using perfect player with a free trial. The price is far cheaper than using amazon. Alternatively you can use kodi on your android box. Hippo IPTV. http://www.hippoiptv.com/

Try doing a speed test on nperf. I find usually it's the jitter latency that causes problems with streaming
