A couple IPTV related questions I have

by symbiance09

1)I currently have a 6 month sub with a IPTV providor called Team Expat, I'm about half way through my subscription and I wanted to expand out to other IPTV providers and see what's available. TEAM EXPAT seems to be having issues lately with having channels going down or issues.

I currently have a fire TV stick and a roku (with plex) and wanted to know if there are any real good but reasonably priced IPTV providers with a good bit of US channels, maybe with a plex server?

  1. I see alot of talk about MAG boxes and it peaked my interest, is it just a normal android box or is it a set top cable box that connects to a m3u file and downloads a guide replicating a normal tv guide and cable box?

  2. one thing I wanted to do I'm not sure if I got the right idea though is this.. I noticed the iptv providers I been with had local channels from different states in the US. Do alot of local channels broadcast there channel live online and an IPTV providor uses that as a source? I wanted to compile a m3u with streams of many local channels from across the country if the channels broadcasted as well on there websites

  3. is there any way to find my local channels in the Pittsburgh region on the internet or through any iptv providor? Antenna is limited and I don't wanna get a cable subscription

  4. is there any iptv services that use sling tv or direct TV now or Playstation view and just redirects it?

I'll try to answer these the best I can :)

  1. Lots of great, reliable options that offer zero buffering and quick channel changes. Cost for a premium service will be about $11 USD/month (or 15 Canadian)- ish. No need to get sucked into $20+ plans. Not all servers (as you now know) are created equal.

  2. The mag is NOT an android device. As you mentioned, it's a set top box, meant to connect to IPTV providers that are using stalker middleware as a method of broadcasting there services. This is considered to be the current standard of IPTV, used by most services out there. Without a stalker middleware client, such as the mag, or dreamlink t1, or avov tvonline series of boxes, you will miss out on all the server side features the provider may include with their services. More often than not, this includes timeshifting (for watching tv in different timezones) and of course, the super awesome videos on demand. More info on stalker can be found here: http://www.infomir.eu/eng/solutions/free-middleware-stalker/

3)Unfortunately, this is not how stalker broadcasts work. You will not have access to the individual streams. If your provider is providing you with streams, likely those channels will not be very long, or if they are won't be that reliable, which defeats the purpose of having a stalker iptv service anyways.

  1. probably not, unless your local tv channel broadcasts on their website you won't get these without an antenna. That's kinda a bummer the antenna option is limited for you, because it will get you some really great quality that you otherwise wouldnt ever be able to get on IPTV even if they did have the locals you wanted.

  2. nope. Stalker middleware is the new standard for IPTV. There are other resellers that flaunt to reddit to spam people with services, some are web based some are kodi plugin based etc, but despite all the promises, most will not offer what you want).

In short, source out a mag for all the main networks, and for locals you're out of luck.

There's really no such thing as free tv :/

I am new to this also but from my limited experience I would definitely recommend a MAG box I got a 254 and it runs well. It plugs straight into the network and is straightforward to set up, It works just like a normal set top box with EPG etc. I tried using a firestick but it was quite limited and not very stable.

Finding a decent reasonably priced provider is another thing I am currently testing a few out.
