Looking for a provider which would have an EPG

by timbotx

Hello all,

I'm new to IPTV, just searching around and have a fair idea how it works, but every provider I see, I'm not entirely sure what the actual product looks like - e.g if I access via roku or kodi, i have to manually search for channels, until I find a good one etc...

My question is, is there a provider that would have an EPG like Comcast or sky or some other cable/satellite company would.

I'm open to using a roku or buying a dedicated android box, but basically what I'm looking for is, I can turn on my TV and then with a remote I can scroll down a list of channels and find the one I want, like you would with sky or Comcast.

A minor note, I'm based in the USA but would like access to Irish/British TV - but the main channels I watch in the states are HBO, Fox Sports, and the news channels .

Can anyone recommend me something, or does such a thing exist?

Many Thanks

There's lots of inaccurate posts in the comments here. I'm at work right now working off a mobile device but in the next week or so I hope to get a comparison between boxes up. I'll be sure to make sure the epgs get compared with pictures for you guys.

In the meantime, the answer is yes, there are lots of providers that offer extensive epg support like Comcast (with timeshifting to boot on supported devices).

My advice if you want a cable company like experience, do some more research and stay away from all generic Android boxes, appletv, fire sticks, rokus, and anything else found in your local big box store.

What you want is a mag254, or if you want something more modern consider the avov tvonline4 or blazing fast dreamlink t1.

These will all give you the best cable company like experience you will find OUT OF THE BOX.

Other Android devices will work, but will require to jailbreak, install emulators, or 3rd party kodi add-ons that are still in a beta stage.

Here is a link to EPG on a Dreamlink T1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1OSPZytKVQ

Here's what the EPG looks like on the Dreamlink T1... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1OSPZytKVQ

Everyone else saying it doesn't have a proper EPG needs to stop commenting and arguing with me.

Unless you own every box out there, please do not put down the EPG until you have tried it personally

Smarthub have an EPG built in to their Kodi addon. Very good provider and great streams.

If you want an EPG that will work with most/all addons then you need ON-Tapp.tv

There's a small subscription fee, but it is worth every cent.

EDIT: Also, On-Tapp.tv has a mini-guide that can be bound to any button on a remote. When pressed it will bring a mini-epg up on screen showing now/next and allow you to go up and down or type in a specific number to jump to a specific channel - no other addon I know does this and it is awesome.

There are many. Currently I'm with ace iptv and 5hey have a good epg guide for UK channels:

But as I said many iptv providers can provide epg. Although many of them are so lazy that they will tell you that epg only works with their addon (when it also can work as a normal epg url if you know how to type the url)

If you already have an android box you can grab the UKTVNOW app and mobdro and you will have pretty much all the channels you want. UKTVNOW has a working EPG, but you just can't change to the channel you want with it (at least I haven't been able to). If you want a 100% cable box experience, and don't mind paying, stay away from Kodi, get a Mag or AVOV or Dreamlink.

Feel free to give our 24 hour trial a go and see if you like it, We have our own EPG and support mag, android boxes, smart tvs, Sticks etc.

We can also use PVR simple client and use timeshift to whatever zone you are in.

You don't want to use an Android or Android TV box, or any other streaming devices like an Apple TV, Fire TV, Roku, etc. You will need a dedicated STB. You need to pick a provider first. I'm with IPTVsubs. It's okay, but it freezes sometimes. The freezing sucked on Kodi on an Android Box. I have a MAG 256 from Infomir, but you may want a MAG 254 since it's more supported. Keep researching and you'll be on you're way to IPTV!

This has been hard for me to find too. Most use stalker and the MAG EPG on those boxes suck because you have to look through all the channels to find what's on instead of actual listings like for example Dish Network would have.
