Anyone using the new DirecTV IPTV service?

by xdeeman

I see that in the last 2-3 weeks DirecTV launched or advertised thier new IPTV service for $29/ mo. I am curious if anyone has tried it. I don't see anything here regarding the software or quality of the service.

I signed up when they had the offer, pre-pay for 3 months and get a free Apple TV. I like the service, it is still young in features, but if you want to watch Live TV, it'll do the trick. I used it on my Fire TV, Android phone and my desktop computer without any issues. I haven't plugged in the Apple TV yet...

Just go to r/DirecTVNow and look at the hundreds of people complaining about blackouts, bugs, freezes, and whatever...

I think you'd make a much wiser choice to go with Vue.

Been using it since launch on Fire TV stick...a few minor buffering issues now and then but overall very pleased (on 100mbs fibre). Issues seem to be improving with every week from what I can see at least. Pretty good channel lineup for the intro price. Will be going with this over Sling as it has the extra news channels I was after.

I use DirectNow on my firestick running on 6.5mbps wifi. Apart from a few buffering issues here and there, which are absent on SlingTV playing the same channels, it's overall a good service. In addition, it has got a good TV guide, unlike SlingTV. I still prefer SlingTV to it though due to the greater variety of channels on offer.
