The only way to record on the MAG 254 is via setting up an M3U in the ITV Channels section of the MAG's inner portal. The record option also in the inner portal lets you set manual timers. It works but no epg.
That's not how timeshifting works on the mag. Everything is done server side.
To see if a channel can go back (most the popular ones can, but not all) there should be a little time capsule icon on the channel on the EPG. When you have the channel highlighted, click right on the directional arrows and that will give you X amount of time you can go back.
Different channels can go back to watch different amounts of shows. When I tested, I saw about 4.5 hours with some of them on IPGuys but of course I didn't try them all so theres no way to tell until you try.
All the timeshifting videos are stored on the server, not your SD card.
At this point in time, your SD card cannot be used, and there is no recording option for live tv.
That said, if it's a specific show you want to record, check out the on video section, they have collections of basically every ongoing show that you can watch from there. Recording shouldn't be necessary.
