Any Australians using IPGuys?

by helloimspoon

Hey all,

Just wondering if there are any aussies out there using IPGuys. If so, please let me know your experience or if you have any other IPTV recommendation.

I subscribed for one month (IPTVPlanet; IPGuys server) and have experienced a lot of buffering* on most English channels on a 100 down /40 up mbit connection which is why I am making this post.

note* - I have tried on a STB emulator and on Kodi (Stalker PVR)

Hey mate,

I have a subscription to ACE IPTV They offer free trails and multiple formats.

They posted recently they now have an Australian server just for us Aussie's. Hit them up on Facebook, get a trail and see if you like it.

Myself and 4 other friends haven't had any issues.

Having 100 down / 40 up means nothing... You could have 10Gbps down and up for all we know, it wouldn't change anything if you have a crazy high ping/# of hops...

That's probably what happened to you: They don't have a server in Aus, so you had to go poach the streams on their far away server (probably US) and the road to go there was slow, hence the buffering...

Whenever you're trying a new provider, do a traceroute to their server and look at the times you're getting and the number of hops as well... High times aren't a good thing neither is a high number of hops (> 20).

Have tried lots and come to the conclusion that for Australians the best are:

  • Ace-IPTV who have a relationship to Flawless IPTV. Flawless ITV are a very good bunch of guys. These guys now have just installed an Australian server which is an respond on demand server. Basically it means that rather than stream all channels instantaneously, it waits for a request and then starts streaming. This means the channel will take longer to load. Theoretically it should work really well particularly for some of the ISP's in Australia who have poor links to the USA - like Optus. There is talk in the Facebook group that the server will not be used for some users who connect via Telstra who have good transpacific links. There have also been clearly some teething problems. Clearly though the Flawless guys who Ace-IPTV and Endless IPTV use as a backend are very good and want to succeed in this market. All of these guys have great Admin's who try and help with issues.

SmoothStreams are an outstanding crew focussed on sport with a smattering of movie channels and occasional guest appearances from BBC content. They have a great way of bringing all the important sports events together and allowing you to watch them in sometimes 4 different ways - US channel, UK channel, 720P and SD. The SD streams are very good 540P which means that you can watch on big screen comfortably. The only annoying thing is the lack of a MAG solution and to watch through an m3u you need to regenerate an m3u as the links expire every 4 hours. The Kodi plugin can record but unfortunately there is no schedule - it is record right now. Basically if you want sport this can be your best solution. If they added some more movie channels such as the Sky Cinema channels in HD it would be even better.

There are many others than work in Australia but HD channels are very unreliable.
