Quick question about IPguys service (please help for anyone who uses them)

by throwww6

I've been informed that I'm not allowed to switch between different devices (such as Kodi and a Mag 254 box) with IPguys, even if they use the same Mac. I've been informed that if I do this, I will be blocked. I don't want to use 2 devices at the same time, I just want to use one at a time and switch between them.

Does anyone have any experience in this? How long does a block last (is it permanent)? Can I switch between devices safely?

curious to know this myself. I am a reseller for IPGUYS, but i have never done this or heard about this.

I am curious to know if anyone has tried this.

Correct, if you do switch between kodi/mag, your reseller needs to login to panel and reset your Mac so it works again. It's a hassle....

I haven't seen anyone get "blocked". Usually it will just throw an authorization error on the previous box when a new one comes online.

You shouldn't get a ban, BUT...it doesn't hurt to work with your reseller. Make sure you have a reseller that will help you out should you run into difficulties down the road.

If you aren't convinced that your reseller will help you, it's time to find a new reseller.

Generally these questions should be directed to whom you get the service from. Of course, in this case it seems you may have already asked him.

But I know first hand that you will not get a ban for this. Unless ipguys started doing something new that I don't know about in the last day or so..

the only way to switch between the different devices is if they have two different mac addresses and you ask the reseller to edit it on their panel. might be a hassle, but worth it if you want to save money and only do a switch every now and then

So here's the short answer: using the same MAC address, if you switch from a MAG to Kodi, it won't work.

And here's the longer answer: MAGs send an ID (and/or other identifying information) which locks them to your subscription. Your provider should be willing to reset or change your MAC address if you ask nicely and explain what you are doing. But once you connect to a portal with your MAG, it's the only device you can use until your provider resets your MAC address.

If you want to use a single subscription on different devices, I have been able to do it with Kodi and StbEmu. Neither will lock your subscription. Of course you can't use more than one device at a time, so you have to make sure to close Kodi/StbEmu before you switch devices. It proved to be a little cumbersome for my day to day use.

A little added tip: IPGuys works way better on StbEmu than Kodi. The paid version on the Play Store is alright, but if you look on IPTV provider websites, some have links to a sideloadable APK that you can download.
