Hi guys,
Anyone know of the best video settings to use on Mag 254 Box (assuming we all have HD TV's)?
Currently on a trial with ntv.mx, but many channels will show as 4:3 instead of 16:9 unless I manually adjust it using the remote. Original setting on video was "PAL" but as I'm in the US I changed to NTSC 1080p - 60fps... Not sure if it's actually made any difference though. Now instead of movies being full widescreen there are in letterbox style (no matter how I adjust the screen FIT/STRETCH/etc).
Wondered if there was a de-facto standard everyone sets it to or not.
Cheers
Most portals I've tried are 720p, and the video settings will reset even if you change it to 1080p. Movies often are not 16:9, so seeing horizontal bars above and below the picture is normal. Looking for obvious signs of distortion is a better indication. It's better to look at TV channels to see how the portal works. Once you change a channel to stretch (which fills the screen and fixes the aspect ratio) it should stay that way. At one point I actually cycled through 200+ channels, while changing each to fill the screen. For whatever reason I never could find a way to change all portal channels in one fell swoop. If you were to reset your MAG, all channels will revert to 4:3 AR.
I eventually got fed up with my MAG254 and gave it to a friend. I really didn't find any advantage to using it over StbEmu on a good Android box (Minix U1 as an example). Using StbEmu the channels are all stretched to fill the screen by default. The only downside to that is for 4:3 channels, which are all stretched horizontally as well.
