A provider who I can record from - does it excist?

by itruk

So after a couple of months of reading etc.. This coming week I'll be taking the plunge and trying out my first IPTV service. I've been waiting on a internet upgrade to fibre to make the most of it and before deciding who to first try out.

I'm a UK guy so looking for a full UK Sky package with the usual 3pm football, VOD, catchup etc... But the sticking point was the abilty to record. I can't seem to find a service that has a proper setup to allow this.

I was thinking of trying out Flawless, first. But they lack the recording side of things.. All help is really appreciated!!

I have ACE-TV as a IPTV provider and I use this software http://htcmeme.wixsite.com/ which uses VLC to record the streams. I just purchased it so I am still testing it out.

Normally the recording is performed on your equipment, for example in the UK Zgemma boxes are very popular and provide this functionality. I did notice that my current provider (ACE IPTV) is now offering catchup, I have not tried it so can not vouch for the quality. If you don't have a device that supports recording, catchup might be a good alternative.

if you have a proper iptv device (mag, dreamlink etc) catchup (aka timeshifting) is available on most servers.

If you want to record shows though, you'll need to do so locally and set it all up yourself (capture card or pc, or something of the sort)
