I'm not familiar with the smartvu direct app, but I do use IPGuys on StbEmu. If StbEmu is working for you, that suggests it's an issue with the other app (directly or in concert with the IPGuys portal). Assuming you've already tried the usual rebooting and verifying portal details, I would contact smartvu for support. You may get a quicker resolution.

Make sure you're not running more than one app at a time, and don't change default ID settings in StbEmu. You may try asking your portal provider to reset you MAC address. There is a possibility that your subscription is locked to StbEmu, but I don't know what steps you've tried, so who knows.
