Possible to get device ID from MAG box?

by MrCakeums

Hi all, Attempting to use my phone w/ STBemu (and Kodi on my PC as well) to mirror my MAG 254 box - however, I can't seem to get the device ID on other devices to match my MAG box. Kodi's log file seems to indicate an authentication error due to a device ID mismatch, and STBemu's built in MAC-based device ID generator doesn't seem to be working - it shouldn't be a number of active devices conflict, since the MAG was unplugged for a few hours before I tried this. While the serial number is in the MAG's system information, is it possible to find the device ID?

SOLVED: To fix this, I captured the box's HTTP packets with a Wireshark capture, then found the respective parameters and spoofed them in an emulator. Thanks /u/bayard0!

Run wireshark in your network when mag is connected and sniff out the packet sending the info.... So easy

Device id shouldn't be needed. I review many many boxes as you all have seen. I often reuse Macs for review purposes.

You should only need to have the Mac set up.

What is your provider?

The stalker 5.0 software allows providers to disable 3rd party emulators...

I can take a picture of what we see on our end.

Likely you're wasting your time. I'd be interested in knowing if you're using one of the few 5.0 providers

I've been having the same issue. I have 4 different services working on my MAG254W2, but can't get any of them to work on StbEmu with the same MAC. I've tried different android devices, different serial #'s, nada.

Just need a little help with Wireshark. My PC is using Wifi, my mag is on ethernet. I ran wireshark on laptop, but the only interface I see is my Wifi on PC. How do I add the router or the mag box to capture http packets?
