IPTV for Nvidia Shield TV?

by East1st

I'm getting the new Nvidia Shield TV tomorrow and need a recommendation for a good/reliable IPTV android app and an IPGuys (or other) iptv subscription.

I'm based in Canada, if that makes any difference.

Thanks,

how important is an epg to you, how wife friendly does it need to be?

STBEmu or Stalker client via Kodi if you want IPGuys. For non stalker IPTV I really liked ProgTV on the shield.

Dexter would be my recommendation then, since your not using a mag box.

Don't get the shield for iptv! Big mistake! If you want wife friendly get anything that works without the need for emulators or kodi. Additionally, the shield has reports of jittery video playback with thr emulator for many people.

Kodi won't have vod or time shifting and will have limited epg if you're lucky enough to get it partially working.

Consider checking out the video reviews of the different iptv receivers at /r/iptvgta it's in the sticky.

Also a huge list of iptv express on demand content there.

Trust me, watch the videos before buying that shield. You can thank me later!

*this is coming from someone who tests new boxes every week.

You can reduce your budget by about 70 percent with any other option other than the shield.

Don't get me wrong, the shield is awesome for gamestreaming and stuff. But unfortunately it's just like any other Android box when it comes to iptv.

Consider the avov N if you want more future proofing with h265 support (4k and HD iptv will need this).

I used stbemu on first gen shield 16gb with no issues. There was no jittery playback but compared to a real iptv box there is some noticeable sluggishness between channel switches and menu things.

I do prefer my dreamlink t1 for iptv but the shield is very capable.

shield tv is great for kodi... the emulators do suck!! IPTV u may want a mag box or dreamlink t1

Have a look at OnTapp TV guide, it can auto integrate with many iptv providers (check to see which ones) and is very wife friendly. Be prepared for downtime on nearly every iptv provider from time to time.

IPTV and shield plays incredibly nicely through Android Live Channels and is very wife friendly.

I use an edited Rapid IPTVwith a m3u playlist loaded into Live Channels with TVirl. This also integrates the playlist.

I then load my local DVB channels into Live Channels with hdhomerun.

Whole things gives me IPTV and local TV in the one app, with quick zapping

I use stb emulator with shield. Nfps . Wife friendly 8/10. I use it for everything on my main TV other than OTA. Wife complains about once a week with it, which is good for her usual level of complaining . Oscars was choppy and she was pissed. No pussy for me that week.

Hey Op, what have you found out. I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on iptv myself. Thanks.
