MAG 254 help

by Kuroth1

Guys I am at a loss with this thing.. To me it is the most un-user friendly device I have ever had..

My first question is how do I turn this thing on? What buttons on the remote are the on and off? There is a blue one and red one at the top of the remote.. I assumed Blue is on and red is off.. Blue dont seem to do anything. The Red button will cause the little blue light on the box to sometimes go from very light blue to dark blue. Does that mean its on when the light goes dark blue? Nothing happens when it turns dark blue. I just get the "No Video Signal" message on my TV Screen.. I have tried unplugging the power and HDMI and plug it back in and nothing happens..

In the past it did work but I was never for sure how it worked and how exactly I got it to come on..

Is this thing really this hard? Do I have a bad one maybe? This makes no sense and I am at the point where I am ready to throw this POS in the trash.. Very disappointed..

Oh and I purchased this brand new directly from the company that makes it.. Emailed them a few times but zero response.. Nice..

Red is to turn on or go to sleep. Blue is programmable to turn on/off TV and other IR devices. If you get no signal, tying pushing the most bottom left button of the remote to change the aspect ratio of the display. Sometimes that works.

Wow.. This thing is just a pure POS. for the life of me I cant see why they are so popular.. My Mi box works 1000% better..

I always try to buy boxes locally from a dealer because they are instructed to honor the warranties. Support your local business if you can :)

As for your issues though, that's super weird. I don't have one on me to test, but my parents who are seniors have both a mag and a dreamlink, and they both insist the mag is better (personally I like the t1).

You've spent quite a bit of time from the sounds of it trying to get this thing to display on the tv. This may be a very dumb question but, have you tried it on a different tv?

I expect you not to like this answer, as it seems to be the reddit way. But sometimes when troubleshooting you have to think outside the box and try to do the whole process of elimination thing.

It could be a bad box, or it could be an input issue. It could even be the video output options on the box that are incompatible with your tv. Maybe trying a different tv will let you get into the bios and change some of the settings in the nand?

Lot's of things to consider. Personally I'd just swap out the box if you could, but worst case scenario you're gunna have to try it on a different tv or monitor. (in fact, a monitor may be a better idea)

Well it works fine on another TV.. Very strange.. No Idea why it just stopped working on the TV it was working on..
