So far in my comparative experience I've found ipguys and smoothstreams (with the HD option turned off) to be fairly even overall in reliability for random and off peak use.
For the heavier traffic stuff...talking PPVs, watching WWE Raw and Smackdown live, new episodes of the Walking Dead, ect ect...I'd give IPguys the fairly clear edge in reliability so far. With the last 2 UFC PPV experiences being night and day experience in favor of ipguys.
As far as overall offered sports content goes it's going to be pretty hard to beat smoothstreams though. A lot depends of what specifically you are aiming at sports wise though I guess.
