Im trying to decide between RPi or Chromecast and it looks like ill have to get both since i cant get netflix on one and iptv? on the other

Better off getting a box in the long run for sure. Buy a US Mi Box and you can have chromecast capabilities with apps like perfect player or stbemu for a similar price point.
Apart from that I recommend smoothstreams for sports as it has chromecast built in.
You can get a service that allows viewing through your browser and then stream it to your chromecast. ACE IPTV is one service I have that offers browser viewing of their package.
Both are horrible options for iptv. Why not get a proper device to start with if you haven't bought one yet?

Check out the dreamlink t1 as it's really the only box that will get you a normal cable company like experience. There are lots of reviews and talk on here about that box
