Mag 256 experience

Recently got one of these, and it's the biggest POS I've ever used. First off, it has a bug when waking from sleep that makes you have to repeat on/off a few times to finally get a picture. Then, all the menus have convoluted buttons that don't match with the remote, so you're left pushing all the buttons on the control trying to figure out which it is. The menus also freeze sometimes. And lastly, it has a high pitched whining sound coming out of the box every time it's turned on.

This thing is the biggest ripoff for $120+. Save your money and look elsewhere, this thing shouldn't be more than $30.

The other thing you forgot to mention, very few providers support the Mag 256. If you had gotten a 254, you would have had no issue. As for the high pitch whining, sounds like you got a defective box from the get go. These things happen. Not every product that ships works, you should know that. You just got unlucky.

Are you using it with latest firmware available, released on Feb 27? Try to write to infomir support, they are quite helpful. I have not noticed any of your bugs, except one that sometimes when waking from sleep on a configured portal, it has no connection and needs to be rebooted. Otherwise for 80 Euros I find it pretty rock solid.

OP, my experience is totally different to yours . I bought a MAG 256W2 a few weeks ago and actually very happy with it. The first thing i did i was put beta fw 7.11 on it and it ran smoothly. I upgraded to the latest fw (Feb 2017) a few days ago and again it works with no issues. Best thing is that i can stream IPTV from my router over 802.11ac wifi across the room.
