Hey guys, I might not to be the only one looking for this combo, so my uVERSE TV from AT&T is going to go from $45 to $95/month and there is no way I am spending that much money for TV and so far they don't want to work out a deal with me...I tried...and other options do not include any sort of DVR cloud options yet.
So, I need an IPTVbox that is super easy to work with for my wife and kid, kind of like a MAG that opens straight into the TV menu but I need and this is the kicker, a super easy PVR/DVR option because my wife records a ton of shows.
I have an android $40 box but you kind of have to know what you are doing and it doesn't fit my needs right now, so I am looking into upgrading to a T1 Plus or MAG256 and both boxes seem to be easy to use with the PVR option (does the box need to be on all the time to record stuff?)
In addition; I intend to buy 2 boxes, one for downstairs and one into the bedroom, so my next question is: if I get the same provider (shared account with 2 mac addresses) is there a way to record the shows on both boxes? or have one of the box to fetch the recording and stream them. (I don't think so but why not ask - I guess that's what you get for a "regular" paying service at $100/month).
Can I get someone's opinion/experience on this who had the same "struggle" lol.
Thank you for spending time reading this.
Edit: Title should have been "IPTV BOX with PVR for wife and kid"
If you have 2 boxes, you will need 2 subscriptions. It's too early to know how the recording structure will be set up. We don't even know if the providers have to do something on their end or not, so the limitation might not even be the box itself. But we can assume that with 2 subs, you will be able to perform the same actions on both boxes. That would however, require you to purchase 2 different storage options.
My recommendation for you is as mentioned below, set up a HTPC somewhere in your house with custom pvr software (sonarr). It's free.
This software will acquire any tv show, past or present and add them to your kodi library.
The benefit of this is, as long as that htpc is connected to your local network (wifi or otherwise), ALL content on that server will be accessible by any device in the entire house. For instance, you can have an old 40 dollar android running kodi that will grab all your content off the htpc running in the basement.
At my house, I have a htpc feeding thousands of hd tv shows to about 6 different tvs in the house, including tablets and mobile. In full 1080p. All my set top boxes pull content from the htpc in the basment. Basically, its a WHOLE HOME PVR on steroids that is free, and gives you much more content then you can currently get with your legit provider, all in the form of something that is extremely wife friendly.
The only problem with this setup is that the home doesnt grab live sports, but that's where the IPTV comes in
