IPTV, TVHeadend, and Kodi

by danlo315

Have there been successful stories on using IPTV + TVHeadend server, with Kodi as the TVHeadend client? I subscribed to FabIPTV and couldn't get TVHeadend to work. I was able to parse the m3u but no channels. It would be great if I could get it setup under TVHeadend to use as a PVR solution.

FabIPTV + tvheadend works OK for me.

Recently did this learning curve myself, albeit with a different provider. I have it setup and working great - TVH server on an old Intel box running Ubuntu server and two Pis running Kodi as clients. I found LibreElec easiest to setup for the Pis.

One gotcha I ran into at first was somehow getting a much older version of the TVH server and the config was very different and not as easy. In the latest there's a wizard that sets up your (IP)TV adapter with your m3u and you step through from there.

There is a lot of variable-quality info out there so I'm not surprised if you're stuck. Exactly what problems are you having?

If you want a pvr do it right spend the 80 to 120 bucks and get a real pvr?

You'll get the added bonus of tv collections, on demand, perfect epg and even timeshitfting/catchup.

The monthly cost is the same or less so why not :)
