Dreamlink T1 Android MAC address changes every reboot?

by henbone11

Hey all, i'm hoping someone that owns (or has a greater knowledge than I do) a Dreamlink T1 can tell me a way to get the Android MAC address to stop changing. Every time I reboot or power on after being shut down I have noticed a couple of things that are frustrating me immensely.

The first is the MAC address changing on startup. This wouldn't be an issue, but I use Access Control with MAC filtering in my router (I live in an apartment and physically controlling access is the safest way I think) and have to whitelist the new MAC every time. This has already proven to be more of a chore than I want.

The second thing, and this may be related to the first, is that the box refuses to keep time/date settings. Every time I reboot the box the date defaults to 01/01/2017 and the time to 1200. I have restored defaults multiple times and nothing is preventing these things from happening. Did I get a bad box? Any ideas?

BTW this is the device MAC address and not the DOL MAC address.

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

Edit

I found this thread and it seems that i'm having the exact same issue. I figured I would ask here before on some forum somewhere where the people's answers are, "meh don't worry about it as long as IPTV is working" and "omg use the DOL MAC and don't worry about that dumb old Ethernet MAC that controls the interface traffic".

I've heard others mention the network mac changes on it, although I haven't checked it myself as I use DHCP. I will take a look at the new dreamlink t1 plus when I get it to see if it has the same issues.

If so, for your specific case, I'd probably recommend selling it and just picking up a mag 254. You could probably even save a few dollars at the same time.

I know it's not a perfect solution to the mac thing, but you're not the first person I've heard say this.

The clock issue however, I've never seen before and seems to be unique to your situation.

Did you try to set the time manually (uncheck the auto get timezone option)? I suggest turning off the auto timezone as that's what I do on all my boxes. It avoids the need to pull the time from the ntp server, which by the looks of it is not going through on your box for whatever reason. I expect this has something to do with your network configuration though.

I have that time issue too and it's pissing me off... Is there a battery in it like a computer to hold time settings?
