I have been getting by with the standard fireTV remote but think there has to be an easier and better option to get a full mag like experience. I know it's possible to use a Bluetooth keyboard and map things but would rather have a form factor (small yet easy to press buttons for old and young eyes like a tv remote). Any good options?
Stb emu was designed to work on touch screen devices. I've seen mags for as low as 50usd, which will cost you just slightlg more than a nice remote setup in my opinion.
I say do it properly and get a good box :)
The firetv leaves a lot to be desired.
I just picked up a Harmony Companion remote to control my entire entertainment system, which includes my Dreamlink, cable box and two firesticks. Works beautifully!! Expensive, but eliminated 7 remotes from my coffee table!
However, the other guys are right, for under $100 you can buy a proper stb that will work so much better than your fire TV for IPTV.
I used the stb emu key congfiguration and mapped all the buttons on the fire too either a short press or long press. So had all the color buttons mapped as well as playback.
