No ip adress showing with my mag 254

Hi guys, just bought a new mag 254 from amazon and when I tried to setup my ethernet it sees a connection but no ip adress is being picked up.I tried resetting back to default, reboot my bell modem (it gives an ip adress to the mag), I tried to enter that ip adress manually with the gateway and still no connection.Looking for ideas.

What kind of modem/router are you plugging it into? Do you have access to wifi, if only to update the software on the box?

Thanks for the reply.I have a bell modem/router sagecom 2864.I don't have access to wifi but I ordered a mag 254 compatible wifi adapter so I can do a fw update.But ultimately would like to be connected to ethernet.

I've heard other people have issues with the sagecom stuff as well.

These isps and their modem/router combos suck.

I think you should pick up a cheap router and put the bell one in bridge mode.

As others said make sure dhcp is enabled. You could also try reserving an IP with Mac reservation
