Have a Nvidia Shield TV - What IPTV?

by vadikunc

Hi guys,

Just reading about the Dreamlink T1+ and all these other boxes out there that seem to be running old android versions and absolute hardware. Considering most people agree the Shield is the best android device around what is the best way to experience IPTV?

Is it best to use an IPTV addon in Kodi or SPMC or is there a better way and if so what are some good providers?

I use sbtemu with fabiptv. Works pretty good.

If anything, the SHIELD is faster than a simple mag device with outdated hardware and software. Even the new Dreamlink T1+ runs ancient android version.
I personally tried the Shield with both kodi addons (smoothstreams, vader streams, ace iptv) and stb emu for mag like experience (ace iptv, vader) and it works just fine if the provider has no issues (and vader had many issues lately)

Had a t1 and have been using the Shield now. I find the Shield more than fine for IPTV. I just use Kodi. It is much snappier and does more than just IPTV if I get the itch to do more. The t1 is very outdated. It serves its purpose, but nothing outside IPTV. It worked ok, but felt less than premium. And the app that has channels available, half of them don't work. It is only good if you have an IPTV service and that's it. The shield covers everything you can think of and is future proof

I'm also curious about this

I heard it is overpowered for IPTV and it is not geared toward that. I hear some had playback issues as well

In general, the Shield gets poor reviews for IPTV. Not really sure why, but it doesn't seem to do it well. That said, my opinion when using an android box for IPTV is to focus on a service that gears itself to the android/Kodi experience. Some providers have android apps that you can use, others have a good Kodi build.

Maybe check out Vader/Pioneer from /u/insiderip as it seems to work really well with Kodi.

Epicstreams from /u/fr0-z3n I have not used in Kodi or any other non-STB interface, but many seem to with good success. They also have good support through their Facebook page.

FabIPTV, from /u/fabiptv, also has options for android/kodi.

All offer trials, either free or paid, that you can use to see how well they work with your Shield.

Good luck

I have a shield and I use the pioneer from iprocket.

Installed the addon in kodi and it works great, i had no problems at all.
