Does anyone else hate the interface on mag devices?

by aguerrrroooooooooooo

I really don't understand why infomir designed such an ugly GUI, it looks like very little effort went into the design.
Why don't they just open up the mag box to allow customised skins? If you take the time to look at the skin design on openvix for custom sat recievers; it looks really modern and polished; whereas the mag looks like it's still in the mid 2000's! Anybody else frustrated by the design?

I moved from openvix on a vu+ device to mag 254 6ish months ago. I couldn't agree more. Anyone ever heard what infomir had to say on the subject?

Have a Mag 256 - but since I have an IPTV service I don't even see the GUI - it's essentially a TV box

Hate it too... Used to Kodi

DLiver420

Why? Seriously, to me it's just a cable box. I never even thought about complaining to Comcast about their GUI. The box does precisely what I want it to do, it provides IPTV and allows me to easily switch between service providers if one (or even a channel on one) is down. Sure, it could have a faster processor and change channels more quickly, but that has nothing to do with aesthetics.

The mag box us great. Just a shame the whole user interface just turns you off immediately. I used mine for a week and then went back to using my Samsung Smart tv with Smart IPTV and from time to time Kodi on my Nvidia Shield. The mag box have been in the closet since after the first week

The GUI could be better no questions about it however as an IPTV box is probably the best you can buy... As someone also mentioned, I hardly see the GUI anymore, just the Stalker interface!

Hungryfarang

Yes, so much so I've been asking about creating an open source iptv app myself. I'm a UI designer and hate poorly designed interfaces. Would jump at the chance to design a good one.

Perhaps it's because the MAG boxes were never explicitly intended for IPTV. Portals need lower server overhead? Perhaps the UI was an afterthought to begin with? I totally agree though, the UI is atrocious and needs updating. My Mag sits in a box now, I moved to a T1 and couldn't be happier.

Blue-Thunder

It's basic and it works. The hardware in a mag is extremely weak and can't do all those bells and whistles you would demand. This is like asking if a pi could run Crisis.
