Looking to get IPTV but need some questions answered.

by br0squit0

I am new to the community and am interested in getting IPTV along with purchasing the Dreamlink T1 Plus. But first, I have some questions:

  1. For safety purposes, I will be using a VPN. However, how do we actually set the VPN up? Do we sign up for any VPN available I can find on Google (any recommendations for Canada?) or does the pre-installed one inside the Dreamlink T1 Plus be sufficient (I believe it is called "Cloud VPN")? I don't mind paying a few bucks per month as I've heard free ones may have issues.

  2. Does the VPN always automatically be activated everytime I turn the unit on and off? Or do I have to turn it on each and everytime I use the device? What happens if the pre-installed VPN app inside of the Dreamlink T1 crashes? Will the Dreamlink automatically use my regular wifi connection, leaving my actual IP address exposed to the provider's server?

  3. There are so many providers to choose from. For Canadian users, what provider do you recommend? Reliability, speed, no buffer, and visual clarity are the most important. I am keen on HD channels especially sports. I would prefer if it came with a trial but paying with bitcoins only is a must.

Thanks in advance.

Buy your own, don't trust what come pre-installed with the box... I don't even think that this "Cloud VPN" thing is an actual VPN, to be fair... NordVPN is very good but don't take my word for it, do your own research ( https://thatoneprivacysite.net/vpn-section/ and also https://privacytoolsio.github.io/privacytools.io/#vpn )

As for the setup, you could buy an additional router that supports VPN configurations (like the cheap EdgeRouterX), plug your IPTV box to it and the router to your Internet modem... All traffic coming in/out the box will be encrypted and your IP will be hidden from your IPTV provider.

If you use a router that has a VPN set up on it, you don't have to worry about that: leave the router running all the time and you'll always be protected . As for the WiFi thing, it's simple: don't use WiFi, always use Ethernet. WiFi can be messy/unreliable so a solid Ethernet wire is much better.

Not really into the CAN market but I keep hearing about IPGUYS... Maybe /u/stokedcrf over at /r/IPTVGTA will be able to advise you better!

Enjoy!

Hi there, try FabIPTV .

I'm not Canadian, but I'm a happy customer, see my review here - they seem to have loads of Canadian channels, and some of the US channels are actually Canadian feeds.

Fab Channel List .

They take bitcoins, have plenty of HD channels, so I would say give them a try. All channels including sports is currently £7.50 per month, increasing to £9.50 next month, but if you subscribe now you're locked into the current price.

Hi /u/br0squit0,

Welcome to the world of IPTV :) Unfortunately I don't have deep experience in Dreamlink just yet. I recently got one, but I haven't had the chance to play around with it too much still.

I'll power it on tomorrow and see if I can give you some feedback about VPN

As for the providers with excellent Canadian content, check out /r/iptvreviews for reviews about multiple providers.

I am a reseller for Epicstream IPTV here and therefore I would obviously highly recommend trying out Epicstream. Check out /r/epicstream for more details or join our Facebook group. We offer a 24 hour free trial to all customers as well.

Epicstream is focused towards CAN, USA, UK, FRENCH, ARABIC and SPORTS content. Most of our USA/CAN feeds are Canadian, so you would love it. On top of that we have one of the highest quality HD streams on the market.

Send me a PM if you are interested in a trial or check out /r/epicstream about trial details / instructions

You're not going to get what you want in part 3. Seriously. ALL IPTV servers have issues. If you're looking for sports, get a smoothstreams account. Canadian content is either IPGUYS, or Express. IPGUYS is more reliable than Express, but Express's quality puts IPGUYS to utter shame.

Head over to /r/iptvgta and read some of the posts we have there. And as for a VPN, if you're in Canada, don't fucking bother as it's not worth it for them to sue us.

I was you about a month ago,

  1. I use PIA, have been for years, works great and $40US/year, there is an app in the yellow marketplace on the T1 2)Unfortunately, you always have to manually turn it on every time the T1 is booted. As far as I know, haven't found a way to enable it to start automatically during boot up. The only reason I use it, is because I think the ISP can see the incoming streams and I noticed buffering. Coincidence? maybe? but since I had PIA for other reasons, figured I'd try it and it seemed to make a difference. But as others said, right now, there is no legal repercussions, so up to you... 3)I am also Canadian and found the best providers so far, have tried about 5 or 6... IPGUYS and IPTVNINJA , both very fast with responses and activations!!
