If it's just an Android Box, why can't its features be ported to the NVIDIA SHIELD?
I'm interested in using Ace and want a Smooth Experience.

It's not just an Android box, it has software dedicated to IPTV streaming. Android is pretty secondary, both the original and plus are running 4.4, and only the plus has access to the full playstore.
I definitely prefer a STB for watching the subscriptions I have rather than going through Kodi in various ways. I bought a buzz TV box after I had a Dreamlink and I prefer the buzz.
It makes the experience closer to cable / satellite... Minus a DVR ... So far at least
As someone who has used a T1, a Mag 254 and stbemu, I'd have to say that the T1's DOL app is the best stalker setup you can get. It is also the most expensive at $135 (CAD) delivered, but unlike the mag, it does have an integrated wireless card AND android for Kodi or FTMC for streaming addons. The DOL app is much faster at portal login than stbemu, less buggy than stbemu, faster channel changes, and guide traversal than stbemu. It isn't faster or slower than the mag, but it has a much prettier interface and is a onestop shop for both kodi and iptv. So for the person who doesn't already have an android box, I'd get the T1. If you already have an android box, and it doesn't need to be mom or wifeproof, stbemu is fine.
As for your question, I beleive the DOL app probably checks the hardware id or serial number of the dreamlink on startup for authenticity checking. If you root a T1 (if it can be rooted) the apk for DOL can be extracted from the system partition, so I'd assume it'd have to have some kind of protection to keep it from being installed on a generic kodi box.
I'm guessing that DOL either has some type of crazy security or maybe its tied to the box somehow? In any case, the T1's are well worth the price :D
