I am running a Nvidia Shield, so I have the space too, if it can all be done on the same unit.
I wouldn't even chance it, just buy a Dreamlink T1+ and save yourself the hassle.
I have a Raspberry Pi running Kodi (Xbian) with Tvheadend - I'm trying to get it to connect to a hard disc and become a video recorder, so that I can select things to record and play back whenever I get time, sans adverts of course.
Apparently it's possible, so I'm going to try - whenever I get time, of course.
