Help with STB Emulator in AndroidTV (Sony XBR55850D) - volume set to default 100% with every channel switch

by Allegd

Hello everyone, I'm having some trouble with STB Emulator Pro (latest version from Play Store). My problem is: After installing STB Emulator Pro on Sony's AndroidTV, I loaded up my profile and successfully connected to the portal and loaded the channels. However, every time I change the channel, the volume goes back to 100%. Even if I mute it, it jumps back to 100% volume when I switch channels, and I have to tune it down every time. While troubleshooting, I came across this thread , and also several reviews on the app's Google Play page mention the same problem with AndroidTV on Sony, but nothing about a solution. I emailed the developed over 3 days ago but still did not get a reply. Would someone kindly help me with this issue? I only have the most basic of knowledge of IPTV, I am not sure how to approach this problem. I searched this sub before posting but could not find something similar, if there is any more info I should provide please let me know.

Note: On a Amazon Firestick attached to the same Sony TV via HDMI, STB Emu runs normally, I am able to switch channels without changes in volume.

Edit: I have tried to emulate every model available in STB Emu (MAG/AuraHD), and I tried all the players, same problem with all.

UPDATE: After some suggestions it seems to be an app specific issue, Stb Emu does not seem to be compatible with Sony's AndroidTV in some way. The developer still did not reply to my email. I installed Kodi 17 on the TV and accessed my subscription's portal with no problems in volume when switching channels.

Thank you all so much!!

Did you try changing what box you are emulating? You'll find that in the profile settings. Might help as I have seen some minor differences with using different mag models

There's probably not much you can do about it, and it's unlikely the developer will address it. It's probably more of a Sony thing.

When you say the volume goes up, is it the actually tv volume that goes up to 100 percent? I can't imagine a tv doing that?

Do you have a receiver so you can try using that as an audio source over ARC to see if the probably still exists?

did you try a different player? as in ljk? instead of exo

Same problem with my app even on the nivdia shield . Not just our Sony TVs . With the volume increase I found it annoying even going through the stb emu settings with the loud sound. I went to the TV/box settings and turned off system sounds.

I have the same issue but I think it has to do with your provider cause I have 2 providers on my stbemu and one works perfect yet the other does exactly what you said and they both have the exact same settings.

Getting the same on LeEco TV!

Maybe it's the provider

Just use perfect player that's what I do cause it doesn't have that issue but it doesn't do catch up so you will need to use stbemu for that part. I should have told you this yesterday but I was running on very little sleep sorry about that.

The solution to the Stb emu Volume jump on sony android TV is a easy fix and 100% working I have tested it several times and installed the app again to make sure 😀 . Set Stb emu up then select a channel to start playing: using a media / keyboard double tap the touch pad so the on screen media player display pops up select the volume down tab to the appropriate level then press the ok tab (YOU MUST PRESS OK AFTER) it then defaults to this level on every channel change even if you use the regular TV remote to raise or lower the volume after it's been set it will always default back to the level set when changing a channel...ENJOY :)

Ok so i was having the exact same issue with the volume jumping every time i changed channel but i have now found a fix within the stbemu settings which does not require an external bluetooth keyboard/media player - also using left on the d pad while watching something didnt work as that just put me into timeshift so if anyone is still having this issue this is what you need to do

Go to settings - configure key maps - add key - now you can use any key on your remote that you want to change but in my instance i used the square stop key which once you press it. It will show on your screen as "keycode_media_stop" once you see that you need to click on - action not selected and your looking for "BTN_VOLUME_DWN" click that and save key

Once you have completed that head back to your channels and select one to watch.... you then use the key you have just mapped so in my instance it was the stop key and it will bring the stbemulator default volume down... you will see the bar on the screen exactly how it looks on a real mag box... i put mine to 1 bar or close to mute and now it defaults to volume 11 instead..... job done

You can then head back into your configure key maps and delete the modification you made

Hope this helps some people

Instead of lowering down the volume with UP/Down key on the Remote (which we generally use for TV volume), lower down the volume on any channel with left button and it will lower down the STBEMU App's volume, and the same will be resumed/used when you change the channel. It worked on my Android TV.
