Would it be possible to add a theme/skin like the dreamlink. For example, if you can make your android box boot straight to iptv like the dreamlink. I guess in a way I'm asking if it's possible to turn your android box into a STB so everything can be straight iptv and easy to use. I have two android boxes and would like to see them up for my parents so they don't need to search for the app.

For home automation installs, I've tried various auto starting apps for different customers with mixed results.
We install wall mounted tablets to control entire homes and security system, and we have found in some cases it's easier and more reliable to have customers click an icon.
The reason for this is that Android devices don't always keep apps running in the background and if your parents leave the box powered on the app may not have a chance to run if closed. At this point if thr customer expects it to auto run, if will be extra confusing and their only solution will be to power cycle the box.
In this case you'd want to make sure your parents are comfortable navigating the android box for those instances.
I say try and and see how it goes, but I'm almost certain you'd be best with a real stb. Not to mention stb remoted are programmed to work with stb software properly, where emulators or additional apps may need a little more setuo on your end, and in some cases a harmony remote to really make full use of all the iptv features.
Still, it doesn't hurt to give it a try! Let them try it and see how they like it
