Does the EPG come from the box/hardware or from the provider?

by timbotx

Hi,

Going to get set up with IPTV soon. Had a Dreamlink T1 plus in mind - as from what I've read it is a great box, I like the Dreamlink EPG that I have seen demonstrated here:

EPG is a big deal for me, I want an easy user experience as my wife hates fidgiting about to get what she wants on.

My question is, if I buy a dreamlink will I get the EPG or will i be at the mercy of whatever my provider supplies in way of an EPG?

How exactly does it work, does each box have their own EPG and the providers are able to support them, or do you have to download an EPG the provider has created?

Thanks :)

The information for the EPG is provided by the service you sub with. The way that info is displayed is different for every box. The Dreamlink has, in my opinion, the nicest layout but if you want a complete and accurate EPG it will depend on the service you choose.

From the provider.

The EPG is why I bought a Dreamlink T1 but I find that the EPG takes a little bit of time to load of you don't leave it on all the time or if you switch between different providers a lot (which I do frequently). The new update addresses this from what I've heard (it hasn't come to the T1 yet, just the T1+)
