I used them for about 6 months in 2016 and just wondered why they're never mentioned here. I left because they were expensive and started to see a few minor issues but I always thought they were a big trusted player and still have a big presence online. Theyre never recommended here though or even acknowledged.
I think the value isn't there. I did a trial of Ruya when I first got started back in February and thought the quality and selection was great. For the price, though, there are so many great providers that charge far less and have all the content I need. I think most people who follow this subreddit that have experience with Ruya realize this pretty quickly.
RuYa was disappointing for me too. I've had a motorised sat setup for many years, and having tried many IPTV providers on Enigma2, LGTV and MAG254 (with 62mbps connection) I'm still not convinced that the viewing experience is where it needs to be yet. IP just can't compete with a good motorised satellite setup and CS provider right now.
Many on 30W/19.2E and 13E have an english soundtrack, especially movies and US series content. Just a button push away. Many of the Scandinavian channels on 0.8W are English as a primary soundtrack. Sports often are not English though. Just lower the volume and put the radio on...
I signed up for the trial last year and suddenly had fraudulent charges on my CC and my bank cancelled the card. Don't really use that card much so I have no doubt it was to do with that charge.
Probably just because they are so costly. In my opinion though, they've had the best quality than all the other services I've tried. Reliability was above par as well. My main complaint is that they use a token system on their streams which prevents the use of an epg like TVGuideFullScreen, pretty much rendering the service useless. If they ditched that, i might give them another shot.
I've wondered this too, was lucky enough to get free access for a few months about a year ago, but they've kinda disappeared.
