I actually find nothing unusual about that. We routinely make 3+ hour drives for service calls and back same day where I work. I'm actually more surprised it only takes 2+ hours to drive across Ireland. Takes 4 - 7 days to drive across Canada depending if / how long one stops for breaks.

I don't know about North America, but in Europe no-one would do a 5 hour round trip for a service call. Not for a bog-standard domestic client, anyway.
