I'm pretty new to IPTV, so please forgive me if this is a stupid question. is it just a pre-configured channel plugin?
If I want to use a provider with Plex, could I not just manually configure the IPTV plugin?

It's quite simple, instead of adding and labeling your VOD by hand, you can use sickrage to download it and let Plex do all that to you :)
This isn't a stupid question at all.
Im pretty experienced with iptv, and I use plex on my htpc as well...
But I still don't know what iptv providers bring to plex...??
Seems like an extremely inefficient way to provide vod content when they should be doing it natively like all the big old-school providers.
We shouldn't need a separate app to run vod.
Additionally some hardware won't even run plex such as mags and there are millions of mag customers out there.
Come on providers, stop taking the easy way out.
I'm using Fab and their "official" support is a unsupported plugin. Works pretty decently. I've got them working with the official DVR function however with tvheadend, tvhProxy and nginx.
I've not seen a lot with "official" plex support. Torula offer it but I've never used. Fab uses it through iptv plugin. I have it setup but there wasn't a channel listing guide so I just went back to STB.
