I'm completely new to IPTV, my father had someone set him up an IPTV w/ a 1 year subscription for CAD 200$ last year. The subscription expires today though, and I was wondering if these boxes are locked to companies? The box is sold by Tele Tek and is currently using mag.friptv.com
Can I just insert the box's mac address and subscribe to any providers available ?

I'm thankful that the settings menus on these STB can't be password protected. I'm coming from having a satellite dish and a lot of places will sell you a receiver and lock out the settings menu so you always have to go see them for service. Then when they eventually disappear, you're screwed
Mags can be locked to providers. But many are not.
You can try to ask epic or fab for a free trial to find out tho and test for yourself. :)
As others have said, do not pay for more than one month at a time. Especially with all the changes to iptv servers in recent months.

Mags can be locked but not that common. You should just have to change the portal Get trials and monthly subs Not 12 months due to no guarantees Lots of info around here about different packages
You should be able to use any other service, you will need to input the new server address in the portal section.
