What factors effect IPTV streaming?

by taterpi

I've tried 2 IPTV services and have been disappointed so far with stream buffering. I have tested my network speed and get between 13-15 Mbps consistently. I am able to stream 1080p flawlessly through other addons. I am using CenturyLink DSL.

I initially had a 1 month sub to Vaderstreams, which worked great for a week, then became unuseable due to buffering issues. Yesterday, I tried a 12 Hr trial with NecroIPTV and the problem was worse than ever.

I could conclude that the issue lies with the IPTV services, but I'm not seeing many similar complaints. What other factors do I need to consider to address the issue?

My test system is an A95x-2/16GB flashed with LibreELEC-Krypton with RTMP/Adaptive streaming enabled. All testing/trials performed after router reboot. I am not using VPN.

Centurylink could be throttling IPTV streams. Worth giving VPN a try. I've experienced buffering with Epic and GearsTV even with VPN but it hasn't been too bad..

Most ISP's are throttling video streams. The ones who sell video do it because when you use the connection for video streaming it directly cuts into their profits. Easy way to test is to use a VPN.

I have 60mb fttc from Plusnet. My devices are all hard wired into a gigabit LAN. Netflix, Amazon, BBC all stream flawlessly on Fire TV and my Enigma2 VU+ box. All devices with latest uodates etc.

However, IPTV services such as Vaders and Epic would buffer or go into a loop. The buffering could be so bad that you end up 5 minutes behind tine in a match etc.

For the last week I've been using WSS PREMIUM and during F1 on Sunday didn't see a single buffer, skip or artifacts. Very impressed so far.

I don't think 2 services (especially the ones you tried) is enough to come to a concrete conclusion that iptv will not work for you.

Many things come into play, like the device or emulator, wireless or wired etc. Location also plays a roll, packet loss. Everything.

Keep in mind, unless you did a speed test on the device you're watching tv on, your speedtest is invalid.

We don't have enough info to go on here, and we can't really help you troubleshoot over reddit. But troubleshooting is fairly straight forward using basic process of elimination skills.

When I troubleshoot at a remote location I always do so with a known reliable server first, even if it's not a server they usually use.

I always device troubleshoot last as that is less cost Efficient, and 9 out of 10 times is the clients network causing issues.

Typically streaming video takes 3-5 Mbps so you ought to be ok on speed so long as you don't have too much going on in your network. Make sure you are not being throttled, PIA vpn is great for this. Also, keep in mind that streams tend to be worse during peak usage times , ie during the big game or the weekend etc. so try it at other times to make sure the stream isn't just overloaded.

For all the general "facts" I've read about how 3-5mbps should be ok for streaming...I've never actually had that hold up in real world experience (wired internet) while trying to stream IPTV through Kodi or SPMC. Even as a sole connection.

It's been a night and day difference anytime I've noticed my Vader (or similar) connection, which is usually in the 40-50mbps range with VPN, dip into the 10-15 range. If it dips under 10...I don't bother and turn it off.

I'm on WiFi 5Ghz on a MiBox and I get 40+Mbps using Elite Streams and some channels do buffer sometimes, but most of the time, I have no issues.

Hi,

A lot of the issues around buffering come from international speeds from your provider, while you say you consistently have 13-15 Mbps, have you tried running speed tests to other locations around the world and seeing if the speeds are consistent around the world. This will show your ISP's international connection speeds.

We can offer a reasonable price package and have servers located at various places around the world. Give us a try and see how your connection is to us. We also try and offer all channels with an HD and SD option where possible so slower connections can still watch even if it's at a lower quality.
