I've been told I could use dreamlink T1 Plus and tvheadend, but I can't find instructions or youtube video on how to take advantage of these two. Anyone here uses both for scheduled recording? If so can you help me understand how I could set it up?

The easiest way is to use tvh with kodi with the tvh add on on your dreamlink.
If you want to use dol, you'll need to take an extra step and also run a stalker server in addition to tvh (now you've just doubled your workload).
Most people can't get tvh working the way they desire as you need to be pretty techy to figure it all out. It is not for the faint if heart.
I'd suggest trying to get tvh working first, and if you get it working great you can move on from there and figure out how to get your deviced working with it.
One step at a time, because it's likely you may not get tvh working. Also, getting epg to work with tvh may be a challenge, so be prepared to sign up to some 3rd party epg services (this will cost more money)
The iptvgta chat room worked together to get tvh working for people, there may be some guys there that can assist if you get stuck.
