IPTV while on a VPN

by alex8155

wanted to see how some of you feel about it? i really want to set up some privacy esp with the Verizon throttling situation that just happened and i dont want Charter Spectrum to know how much cable im streaming at home.

and i noticed that SmoothStreamsTV does not allow streaming while using a VPN. is that common?

Pretty sure Epicstreams also allows VPN. I'm having issues with their service, buffers badly at times and is fine at others.

The reseller thinks it's my ISP that's at fault, though I don't have any issues at all with other streaming services.

He is suggesting that I use a VPN to get around what he maybe thinks is the ISP messing with the traffic from Epic.

I'd also like to know the reasoning behind providers not allowing their services to be used along with a VPN. It seems like a mistake to not use one, but I'm definitely not very well-versed on the subject.

It would be hard(er) to implement detecting and monitoring shared account use.

Imagine you pass your VPN settings to another person/family member - they could essentially also use your IPTV credentials once on the same VPN network. Also, differentiation with another user that also subscribes to the same service and also using the same VPN service is hard to distinguish.

Really a trade off

I would assume the fact that you would have two different channels on at the same time would be an indicator that your for your example a user is sharing regardless of whether your using a VPN or not

EclipseIPTV (thus necroiptv) does allow VPN

Don't know where you hear SS doesn't allow VPN ? I currently use with VPN and also have used express with VPN.
