I'm planning on recording live sports (morning soccer matches) using Kodi on my PC when I'm at work and then watching the game later on.
I'm not sure though whether this is possible because certain providers don't allow it or whatever.

Emby, although for a price, can do this. And rather easily compared to setting up tvh
You can accomplish all this using own set up using tvheadend or mythtv servers. I run tvh on raspberry pi and able to record, pause, rewind, etc
