Android TV vs MAG?

I'm sort of stuck really what to buy in regards of going down an IPTV route.

I currently have a ZGemma H.2S but it isn't HEVC compatible due to the CPU. I also have a range of Amlogic boxes with an s905 soc.

I've heard though that using these boxes are hit and miss due to emulating an STB, and isn't very reliable. I've heard people recommend both an Android based box and a MAG box for the enthusiasts.

I'm open to getting any as all are below £100 and in some cases below £70.

Any recommendations are appreciated :)

These posts come up every single day, and it's shocking.

I don't mean to be rude, but a simple search will give you any answer you're looking for.

Your decision is actually a very simple one and comes down to how you weigh what you want it to do.

For reliability and stability, and if you know you'll be connecting to a stalker server, you'll want a mag hands down (or another supported device).

If it's Android you want, and the ability to download extra apps or for gaming, you'll want an android device.

Often, device choice can wisely be selected after you know what server you want to use.

As another user said here, try kodi first before buying a box. If you don't like how kodi does iptv (there are lots of limitations with kodi), then you know you want a supported stb.

As an avid reader of /r/AndroidTV, can't stress enough. Nothing mentioned in this entire thread is actual Android TV. Just shitty Chinese boxes. Unless you're talking Shield, mi box, or a nexus, you're talking normal android on a box. Some of which won't even have 1080 DRM in some apps, let alone 4k.

U could try kodi with the android box beforehand to see. I know many people use the mag as well.

I used G-Box Q2 with IPTV and was never impressed. Not a hater, but was always disappointed in any Android device overtime (usually works well at the beginning). Currently run STB emulator on Linux and it has been great so far.

What android boxes do you all use? I have FireTV stick, but it crashes too much for whatever reason (maybe it overheats?) + remote goes through batteries like crazy

Zgemma works brilliantly for me for using iptv. The sly interface is identical to an actual sly box and looks amazing. The interface on those magbox's are terribly ugly looking in my opinion and android boxes tend to be hit and miss
