Newbie to IPTV with some Plex questions

by BLKMGK

I've loaded the IPTV plug-in and I have it working with some of the free channels out there. I see that there are some providers that specifically list compatibility with Plex too and I'm comfortable modifying channels lists and whatnot.

But I have some questions.. Some of the providers limit the number of devices that can watch their streams, this makes sense to limit shared credentials bringing down their networks. If I'm on the road and use Plex to watch a stream does the traffic go through my server or does the server pass the client a link to go direct? If the latter I might run into issues with device limitations right? Suppose two devices wish to watch something, if the traffic goes through the server what happens - is only one stream at a time going to work? I don't have a large number of users accessing my Plex server but if I pay for a service I want to understand the rules so to speak. I guess I just need to know if Plex proxies connections or not, I've tested with free streams and it seems to. Do any of the providers offer their own plugins or is everyone using IPTV? Is there any sort of EPG from anyone? I have seen an EPG for Kodi (I'd want set that up on my Kodi boxes!) and I've seen the DVR interface for Plex that's a sort of EPG but I'm not clear on if anything of the sort is offered for IPTV/Plex combinations.

Just trying to sort this out in my head before I make configuration changes or bother any providers for trials. Thanks!

If you're using Plex the streams go through your server.

Plex Channels (IPTV Plugin) are not shareable to other Plex Friends.

Same boat as OP. but it would make sense that only one ip addy gets used, your server.
