Help identifying box and subscription and advice for the future

by theoeuf

Hi! I had my first foray into IPTV this weekend and bought a box from a market. Unfortunately, at the time I didn't realise how large the market was, so I would be grateful for some advice.

The info on the box I have purchased is as follows:

TT TV BOX Android player Model: MXQ

The service it came with seems to be Blackbox.tv, which I've not seen anything about on here I think.

The box seems to be quite basic taking price as a guide; I have no idea about its specs, or indeed the consequence of having a higher spec box. Having used the service at the weekend, the sports are on there, though it's limited to UK tv and the Bein channels, which have been working intermittently. The quality was better on some channels than others, but certainly not HD. Using MovieBox, however, was great quality - though I understand this is standalone. I only really bought it for football(soccer)/sports.

I paid £100 for the package including a 1 year subscription to the tv service and I'll give it a few weeks to see if I can live with it. I may be interested in taking out a better subscription going forward if it's no good, but would my box be able to handle a better service?

Any advice would be hugely appreciated.

I have an MX variant, it handles everything from Kodi to FHD streaming just fine, I wouldn't worry about it. The quality/stability might depend on what app you're viewing the streams on and its particular settings, for example I was having issues with Perfect Player until I set the decoder to 'HW', after that no more problems.

You don't want to pay a year in advance for any IPTV service since they could be gone tomorrow, per-month basis is ideal.
