FABIPTV tvheadend complete set-up

by -bumbastick-

Wrote a tutorial for how to set-up tvheadend for FABIPTV (similar process for many provers). Love the ability to pause, record, rewing, etc. Some might find it useful: https://yadi.sk/d/cTOtxLL-3M5Jae

Are you able to setup series recordings with tvheadend like a regular cable box? And if you're recording something on one channel, can you watch something else on a different channel?

Thanks a lot for this. I can actually pause and record now!

Good job dude, I'll try it later.

Well done good sir! You deserve many more upvotes!

Do you mind if we link to this post?

This can be used for many different servers! The /r/iptvgta team actively works with people helping them set up tvh, and this would be most helpful.

Hopefully people can keep this thread on topic, instead of turning this into a "is fab any good" thread (like /u/toxxicpickles just did)

You can use timers and timer rules of tvh client under Kodi itself. Additionally, under tvh backend you can set "use epg running state" which will record based on epg data for the channel you want to record. I haven't tried it personally, but seems possible as long as streams are solid and epg is accurate. However, i'd personally look at alternate options for accomplishing this. Watching recorded series elsewhere is simply easier than recording from iptv provider.

Edit: Forgot to add. Tvbackend also has a dedicated DVR section to accomplish just what you are trying to do.

Im struggling to connect to my TVH backend. Its configured on an Ubuntu 16.04.3 Virtual machine (mac host). Running ifconfig returns multiple IP's:

  • inet addr: xx.x.x.xx
  • Bcast: xx.x.x.xxx
  • inet6 addr...

Tried all ip's but can't establish a connection between front end and back end. TVH HSTP client is on my amazon fire tv.

Us LAN IP of your Ubuntu VM. Most likely it is configured to run in bridge mod so the IP should be the same as MacBook's. You have to ensure the port 8891 and 9982 are open on VM and accessible. Try scanning for open port to ensure it is open. Also ping LAN IP.

Using your guide, I could make it happen in my QNAP NAS, thank you.

Glad it helped

Great tutorial! Just one quick question; would this setup allow you to watch 2 different things on 2 seperate TVs within the same household?

I'm trying to get this going on my Synology box in a docker container but I'm running into some issues.

Number one is when I try to import the m3u file into Tvheadend after doing the modifications to file as outlined in the document above I get the following error

[ ERROR] iptv: libav: Could not open input 'pipe:///usr/bin/ffmpeg -loglevel quiet -i http://meowyapmeow.com:8080/live/username/password/2048.ts -c copy -flags +global_header -strict -2 -f mpegts pipe:1': Invalid data found when processing input

(I've subbed in username and password)

Any thoughts?

For reference I am running the latest version of DSM on my Synology DS1718+ and the docker container I am using is the linuxserver.io one ( https://hub.docker.com/r/linuxserver/tvheadend/ )

When I run the /usr/bin/ffmpeg command manually inside the container, I am able to generate a file no problem.

Thanks

It’s been awhile since I had it running on my NAS, but to me it sounds like the issues is with permission of tvh directories. I remember i had to manually assign permission to correct users via command line. I can point you to a very detailed discussion we had back than on one of russian forums (all in russian tho).

Link is dead? Thanks in advance!

How is the reliability with streams. I find them hard to deal with at times and wondered how good it was for you.
