MiBox - Trying to set it up like the guys demoing it at the mall, Kodi + addons and it still won't work right, what am I doing wrong?

by Heart30s

So I see the guys at the mall demoing their boxes that have thousands of channels, and it works flawlessly. Yet when I install Kodi + the various recommended plugins I can't get hardly anything to play. It always says something about "activating" the box when I click on channels, and still others just don't have a stream.

What are these guys selling their boxes doing? is it setup differently? are they subscribing to some IPTV service and demoing that instead as a trick??? I have heard the term "Stalker box" but not sure what that means.

Basically they sell the boxes for like $350, lifetime updates, etc and I'm wondering what their setup it like for it to work so flawlessly.

I have a Mi Box 4k, put Kodi on it, and also tried add-ons and then the Oxgen theme thing and still doesn't work, although it looks great and makes me feel like it MIGHT work but doesn't.

Thanks in advance!

for that price range, you could have gotten an Nvidia Shield. Don't be buying stuff like this from malls spur of moment. Do you research, lots of info around. If they were showing you live TV, then they probably have some kind of IPTV, which is a service you need to pay separately. Many options to choose from.

Doesn't sound like they have inlcuded any IPTV in your package, did they say anything, instructions? Don't seem like it. This is how they get people at the malls. They see a ready to go box there, and expect it to plug in and work no problems, forever. You can buy mi box from places like amazon and walmart (US) for lot cheaper.

As others have said, just pay $10 a month for a service provider. Of you're dead set on using Kodi, then install SPMC. Its Kodi but built for Android & way faster/more stable. But generally speaking, Kodi IPTV integration kinda sucks. Best to use a standalone app like StbEmu or Perfect Player using your provider's setup details.

Also remember these free Kodi addons are getting used by so many people they end up either shutting down or just not working well. Nothing good is free when it comes to this stuff so you gotta pay a bit for good service if you want to really cut the cord.

Do you have a IPTV provider to watch it?

Most good IPTV providers, will give you instructions how to set them up on Kodi or have their own app.

What do you want to play?

Most "legit" IPTV providers will provide you a box for either a small monthly or like $70 - $100 plus the service. Some will even throw in a box for free when you sign up.

You can mess around with Kodi but all you really need to get up and running much easier and faster is StbEmu from the play store, even the free version, and an IPTV subscription.
